Wow, ok, Unity's Multiplayer Play Mode is an actual game changer (I don't use these words often 🤣) I press Play and it just launches a Simulator for me in the background - using a different platform than the one I'm in, even (macos server vs. macos). All in 15 seconds! 😮

Tadej Pogačar talks about how he trains in the winter or before his important one-day races: “I also don’t like too much explosive stuff. And when the coach puts just riding and ten sprints at the beginning and ten in the end or something. This is the worst training, you know what I mean? In the winter, I just love just zone 2, 5-6 hours. Especially when you’re just going alone and do a big loop or something. I really love this, keep the power high. You come home a bit tired and wrecked but. Also, you go all day fast, feeling so good to do it. But then in the summer or before the big one-day races, I like to do six hours again, quite high pace through the day. Behind the motor 1-1.5 hours. Push it a little bit and then some explosive into the last hour. This is like one of the favorite trainings.” 🎥:

COACHES: This is another HUGE pet peeve of mine. Players trying to do it all themselves and making a potential rush opportunity into a 1v1. The higher the level you play, the less likely a player will beat a defender 1v1. Especially on the rush. I see so many kids try to do it themselves - and if the kid is talented enough at the younger ages it potentially may work out. But as players advance to higher and higher levels, you rarely see anybody try to beat a defender 1v1. And even more rarely do you see anybody actually beat a defender 1v1. I see so many coaches rewarding kids at the younger ages for taking the puck from one end of the ice to the other and scoring. While it's great that a number goes on the scoreboard, you are doing a disservice to the kid's development. Because if that kid doesn't learn the value of passing and using their teammates, at some point this clip is going to happen to them. A LOT. And that player will eventually get passed by the kids that learned to play the right way with their teammates. On this clip the ANA player tries to do it all himself and the puck goes the other way and eventually ends up in the back of his net. It's hard enough to beat one person 1v1 in high level hockey, let alone skating the puck through multiple defenders. So coaches, please emphasize the value of using your teammates. I see this type of play SO OFTEN in youth hockey. Passing, hockey sense, playing with your head up, using your teammates...these skills translate to the next levels. Doing it yourself, even if it works as a young player, does not.

I'm totally floored. In all of my years working in high school sports, I have never received a gift quite like the one I got today. My wife ran into the house this afternoon and shared this video, which players and coaches of Section 1 girls basketball created. We watched it as a family. We all had tears in our eyes. My daughters are 11 and 9, and I bring them to HS basketball games a lot. It's not just to expose them to the game so they can learn Xs and Os. I genuinely believe the community of girls playing the sport in Section 1 right now are true role models. My girls idolize players like Sophie Nascimento and Cadence Nicholas, and I want my girls to grow up and be just like them - as much off the court than on it. These players, regardless of school rivalries or AAU programs support each other in a way I just don't see in any other sport. It's a special era. And I'm grateful to be a small part of it. Thank you to Julia Scott and coach Pat Buckley of Albertus Magnus for organizing this video, and all of the girls and coaches who took the time. I don't think any of them truly understand how much it means. I love you all.
