Here's a tip I don't see enough: make your animations interruptible. You should be able to immediately trigger close events without waiting for the animation to complete. Motion makes this super easy. This helps your interfaces feel durable, snappy, and well considered.

A few people have asked how I make these animations. The answer is it's just code and a screen recording. I’ll make little jigs like this interactive timeline to dial things in, but for me I find this is still the fastest way to create and refine exactly what I want.

So lemme show you what i am working on rn Klick (might change the name later) It’s basically gonna be a cursor click animation library, you will be able to add really cool click animations to your cards, pages, and components with just one CLI command. And this is the homepage i designed for it, tell me how it looks This project is gonna be crazy, i have spent a lot of time making sure everything feels really polished and good, just wait till i complete it, it’s gonna be insane

Alright boys this is how you should be filming your nugs using the iPhone camera (without the macro camera for the mfs who don’t have it this is all on x1 zoom) Left video is how I see 99% of yall film the right is how you should. Never zoom in on the nug just bring the nug as close to your camera as possible and watch the magic happen.

Scroll-triggered animations are coming to Chrome early next year (and we've been really excited about this one for a bit!) 🥳 Unlike scroll-driven animations (already in Chrome & Safari), this API introduces "timeline-trigger" and "animation-trigger" to start an animation within a specific range, rather than relying on the scroller completion *as* the animation timeline. I got nerd-sniped and wanted to try it out so I built this shape morphing demo to show how you can apply multiple animations to the same element over with different triggers. PRETTY COOL IMO! Bramus has a post with more info ⬇️

I talk a lot about not trusting the experts. Well, the same goes for influencers (myself included). An example would be this video: Protein shakes have been shown to be a net positive for your health. They certainly don't take three years to digest. It's a wild world out there on both sides. Do your research and make sure the stuff you learn lives up to your experience.

It's a sweet gesture but imo I see a divorce and a new happy couple emerging from this. Ladies would you allow your man to get this close with your best girlfriend? Guys, do you think it's your place to buy romantic type gifts for your wife's best friend?

Good software is durable. Here's an quick example of what that means, at an interface level. In X, you can choose a custom emoji reaction. The popover looks like what I expect, but it does not work like I expect. I want to use the ‼ emoji, so the first thing I try is obviously '!'. No results. The sum of a million little papercuts like this means X feels like broken software, not well designed or made. Which is a shame, because it's a brilliant product and network.
