We should always try to correct asynchronys by understanding the ventilator-patient interaction and ajusting the parameters. Sedating the patient is the last alternative and we should always try to use the least sedation and least invasive mode when possible

I stayed with my wife for several months of her vented/ECMO CVICU stay before her lung transplant and am forever grateful for folks that would show up and state and fiddle with vent parameters at 2:00am until "things were better". I saved this video to re-watch and share with her
