This seems over-simplification. It was a measurement, when negative dividing the negative. All of a sudden, you start convincing yourself about the negative, when (-6/2). That's hypocrisy

What about a positive divided by a negative?

Interesting. How about plotting it on an x-y chart? A division is simply multiplication by a fraction, so if you plot 6 on the x axis, 1/2 on the y axis, you can see it covers three squares; if you plot -6 and -1/2, you see that it also covers three squares.

No I still dont understand this, :(

This is excellent. Thank you!

For measurement model, introduce zero pair. Only by adding/removing (+)s, and (-)s to the table, you can complete the proof..

Then how you explain 6 / -2 ? There are no -3 groups of -2 in +6. And you can’t separate +6 to some group of negative 2 groups.

This person should not be anywhere close to children.

Great, now use this to explain +6 divided by -2. Good luck.

Great explanation. What about a positive divided by a negative?

How would you explain why a positive divided by a negative equals a negative to kids?

What about positive numerator negative denominator

Very nice but try to explain this model to the bank when you minus in account then divide you next account which is also minus this way you get positive ( just kidding I know the concept but find it funny )

Bro you gotta upgrade what you think kids are doing these days hahaha

Pretty good explanation I’m not sure about the vocabulary. Choice depends on the age group of kids I suppose.

Marvelous explanation. Division was something I learned to do without ever having a mental model. Luckily for me the lesson came easily, but looking back I can see how others would have struggled.
