Here's the Blender to Pixel Art pipeline tutorial. This shader should be super helpful for pixel artists learning how to pixel objects that look correct with 3D rotation. It's also just really nice to be able to see how lighting would accurately work on objects that are complex.

Awesome tutorial, glad to see creators sharing their knowledge. Think this is a great tool like you said for quickly testing out different pixel art lighting setups.

Just an fyi. You can turn on realtime compositing and see that in the realtime rendered view

Ooo that’s super helpful! Is there a chance you could upload the video to your YouTube too? Would make it easier to access

I’m half tempted to volunteer with that, but my pixel art skills are still novice XD

All good, I'd want to pay someone to do it if possible.

This sounds like it might be the way to go for accurate pixel art maybe. Considering someone is not an expert at Aesprite.

Just when I was finished struggling making a pixelart shader with many failed attempts, this video appears XD

Nah it's okay, I guess it helps to get used to Blender by spending more time experimenting.

You could also generate Normal maps like this if you wanted to do dynamic lighting in-engine

I didn’t even think of that. Awesome

Awesome video! Just want you to know I found this via Google recommendation I guess since I love pixel art, but still so random! I’m pretty happy with the algorithm though because this really is the stuff I want to see that wouldn’t even know to search for. Cheers bro 🍻

I don't even know what a google recommendation is 😆. But thank you :)

Good tutorial. I have done something similar in the past. Add a color mixer that is set to multiply with the color ramp as one input and a texture for the other input. For finer control over the specific colors, use a texture per shade and a math node to pick which one is output.
