Julio and Cal went from elite level defense to avg/below avg. Naylor regressed defensively. Randy has always been bad. Young improved. Donovan is a good defender but didn’t play. JP has been poor for a few years.

I think Cole Young is a good example of what Jerry is getting at, I don’t remember his defensive metrics and performance in 2025 very much but he showed a lot of good defense this season and the attention/effort he put into it in the offseason showed up

How about not wait till it's too late before making a move? Or even holding players accountable when your see manager not doing so in case where they mentally checked out this season. As a leader, it's on Jerry as much as Dan and players in not being able to drive accountability in the squad.
