Hey! A little update on the procedurally generated map! I've made some progress, after a lot of testing, I finally have something that I like and that fits the gameplay better! Let me show how it works: [thread] #indiedev #gamedev #indiegame #madewithunity

The map is divided into several road sections, which are placed one after the other according to certain conditions. There are only a few of these at the moment, but they will be added to over time.

We start by creating the map by placing road segments. This allows us to control the number of turns and obstacles, and adjust the randomness with different conditions to create a balanced map.

Then we generate the terrain based on the size of the generated map, making sure it doesn't collide with the current track.

Next, we create a mesh around the road, which allows us to create a respawn area when a car comes into contact with it, preventing it from falling into the void.

Finally, we add decorations around the road to make the environment more vibrant.

It's just the beginning, and there's still a lot to do for the terrain and decoration generation. I'll need to create a lot of different road segments to make it less generic. I still have a few ideas to test, but I'm pretty happy with the result for two weeks' work :)
