Why do men assume that "stepping in" implies physically or verbally confronting the creep? Leave that to the authorities. All someone needs to do in a situation like this is approaching the woman and start chatting to her pretending to be a friend/family member. Many men and women have gotten me out of potentially very harmful situations by doing just that and I have done the same when I saw other women in similar situations.

I’m was just on the subway this weekend and some creep said my 15 year old daughter looked like an angel. Of course he had his whole face and head covered with sun glasses on. I instantly got into “I’m going to kick this dudes ass” mode. I told him to stop before something bad happened and he did. I’m also 6’4” 300lbs so most people won’t mess with me but if I was smaller, that guy probably wouldn’t have stopped.
