Very short term is: Are you going to be happy and will you be learning a lot? Very long term is: Are you working on something important or meaningful? “I think we are in a skewed world where we overweight the medium term, and we underweight some combination of the short term and the long term.” Thiel would recalibrate it to: “Focus on some combination of short term and long term. And forget about the medium term.”

#India mkt stalling in 2025: Markets should definitely take corrections when overdue. Else it hurts long term investors. 2020 to 2024 saw mid and small caps returns of 28% annually. At this pace, all businesses would quit & simply invest in markets. A correction was overdue. Instead, we witnessed a gradual stalling of markets as domestic flows kept it hanging. It’s not the best outcome. 18 months & counting. Better strategy for long term investors is to love the intermittent corrections as they come. You’ll accumulate stocks cheaper for the long term. You know this. Yet short term stall or correction makes you nervous. Markets could stall for another year & you should still love it. Short term spikes are detrimental for your SIP portfolio. Don’t cheer for markets everyday. Cheer for corrections. If you really want long term wealth. My discussion on CNBC-AWAAZ

We're all plagued by the same disease. Short-term thinking is a virus of the mind that holds us back from achieving our true potential. If we can't do it today – or at least in the very near future – we tend to doubt our ability to do it at all. According to Jeff Bezos, we've got it all wrong. In 2017, while being interviewed by his brother, Jeff was asked about his perspective on short vs. long-term thinking. Here's what he said: "Long-term thinking is a lever. It lets you do things that you could not do or couldn't even conceive of doing if you were thinking short-term." To illustrate, he goes on to give an example: "If I collaborated with somebody here in this audience and I said, 'Look I want you to solve world hunger and I want you to do it in five years' you would properly reject the opportunity. You would say 'Look it's not possible it's not practical.' But if I said look, I want you to solve world hunger in a hundred years, that's a job you'd take. Because it's a much more addressable problem." Two Takeaways: 1. Give yourself the right time horizon We place higher expectations on ourselves than anyone else. We expect to do more, with fewer resources, in less time. Ambitious? Sure. Realistic? Not always. Make sure your timeline is reasonable for the goal you're trying to achieve. 2. Breathing Room Bezos says: "If everything has to work in two to three years, then that limits what you can do. If you give yourself the breathing room to say, okay... I'm okay if this takes 7 years, all of a sudden you have way more opportunities." When we box ourselves into an unreasonable timeframe we make rash decisions, cut corners, and –as a byproduct of being rushed – don't do our best work. Give yourself permission to breathe. A little pressure is good, but apply too much, and anything (or anyone) will eventually break. Never let the thirst for short-term gratification distract you from achieving your long-term goal. In 2021, Lewis Caralla, Strength Coach at Georgia Tech, gave this phenomenal speech about winning. He said, "Are you willing to sprint when the distance is unknown?" Do you chase Winning? Here are the 3 takeaways from his speech: 1. Winning is NOT Fair - Winning is not loyal, and it does not promise you anything. Winning is not fair. You can put all of the time and work into it and still come up short. 2. Winning does NOT Care - Winning does not care about you. It can create a fear of failure, add stress and undue pressure, and play mental games with our heads. Winning causes setbacks and does not promise you anything. 3. So...Why do we Chase Winning? We chase winning for one reason and one reason only. The only thing that is guaranteed in life if you do not chase winning is the alternative. Losing...and losing is much worse! Winning is a lifestyle. It is our day-to-day choices on how we live our lives. I know what I choose. Choose wisely.

What Scott Bessent did today is a call to SHORT more US bonds. The government couldn't find enough buyers for its own long bonds, so the government became the buyer. Argentina does this and Turkey does this. We now do it 3 months before an election, and the financial press is calling it “decisive leadership.” These are emerging market tactics, and the effect will be temporary at best. Bessent will go down as one of the most consequential Treasury secretaries in history, and history will not be kind to him. Short the bonds. You cannot own enough gold. The SpaceX IPO will be the most hyped listing in years. It's also the moment the early investors finally cash out on the public. SpaceX has been private for 20 years. The private equity guys got in early and are sitting on massive gains. A $1M stake is now worth $100M. A $10M stake is now a billion. The problem is their money is locked up. The shares don't trade, so those investors look rich but can't spend a cent of it. The IPO is their way out. They sell their shares, and the people buying them are retail investors like you. So while everyone races to buy at the open, watch what the institutional money does. They’re also not allowed to sell for the first 6 months after it happens, so I’d recommend to wait until then.
