GOT CLEARED TO TRAIN HARD YESTERDAY - 6 weeks post total hip replacement. Started with bodyweight and worked up to 100 - I feel 25 again! The first rep I believe I had a seizure at the top, but my nervous system was probably like “WTF!?” I haven’t done these in over a year due to my hip issues and they are my favorite lift. I will be posting other movements from this workout, but I am so excited to have this new lease on movement - and movement is LIFE! Yeah buddy!

Update on surgery and recovery. Thank you to Dr Philippon and his team out The Steadman Clinic for their help with a successfully surgery. No, I did not have a hip replacement. 😁. But the surgery itself was a success. Thank you to Meghan, Kat, Jason, Jess and Quinn at Howard Head Sports Medicine for their help with the first 3 weeks of rehab and making it as fun and entertaining as it can be. Thankful and very much appreciative of all the kind messages from everyone who has reached out over the last month. ❤️ I’m excited about my progress so far and looking forward to getting back to golf activities here soon. 😁👊🏌️‍♂️

Hey everyone, I’ve got some news to share with you. My incredible doctors have cleared me to go back in next week to have my hip replaced with a permanent joint. I’m obviously not looking forward to more surgery but this is actually good news. I’d like to apologise in advance to my darling Jane who’s going to be back in nursing mode for the next few weeks (I’m not a great patient if you didn’t know). The temporary hip that I had in there for the past few months did its job, and it got me through the amazing Cold Chisel “The Big Five-0” Tour. I’d like to thank the very talented physios who strapped me up like I was in a grand final every night. That got me through the shows. I’ve got another big year coming up, and this new hip will have me stomping around the stage before you can say 1, 2, 3, 4. See you on the road.

My name is Wangeci Alice, For the past few weeks, since I was admitted on 28th March, I’ve been suffering silently … but it’s time to speak up and ask for your support. A day after admission, on the 29th March, I bravely faced my first surgery, which was the separation to prepare for main surgery. I was in pain, but hopeful—because I knew on 5th April, a new journey would start with my hip replacement. But this never happened. SHA failed after the hospital sent the preauthorization. We did this again and again. But no approval. Which meant no surgery. Total silence. They said I wait until 12th April. I waited, broken but hopeful. But 12th came and went like the rest of the days. And now it’s pushed again—to 18th April. Still, no approval. No surgery. I’m still here, in this hospital bed. Day and night. Patient and hopeful. But that is another bill on top of another, daily. With metal rods pulling at my leg. And a hip crying out for relief. It’s a heart tired of waiting.

Today is retirement day. My last motorcycle ride to my job of 36 years: Zero accidents. One speeding ticket. 5 or 6 warnings. I have a bunch of hobbies awaiting me, but I will start with a hip replacement scheduled for next week. It’s time to enjoy life!

Today was an extremely proud and exciting day for me. As you know I currently drive my chair using my head on my headrest as my arms didn’t have the strength. But today I got a joystick fitted on my wheelchair and I have now built up enough strength and movement in my arm to use my hand on a joystick to drive my wheelchair. This is a goal I have been trying to reach since 2017 but I simply wasn't strong enough to do it. I have no finger movement but I now also have enough strength so I have a little button you can see on my arm rest that I punch to turn on the wheelchair & to select my menu💪 Ever since I done it today I haven't taken the smile off my face and I am just buzzing knowing that my hard work and stubbornness was worth it over the last 6 years since my accident. The fact I was told I would never move a muscle or a limb again makes it that much sweeter. I told myself that there will be haters, there will be doubters, there will be non-believers, and then there will be ME proving them wrong. I hope I am an example for others to show you can beat the odds! 💯 Thank you so much to everyone on here believing in me and continue supporting me everyday, this success is as much for you as it is for me. Please give this video a share to spread the word so it might give another person hope. Health update. After consulting with doctors and my team, I have decided to have right hip surgery early next week out in Colorado. It’s an unfortunate situation with so many great events left on the calendar but this is a preventative measure. I’m already itching to start rehab, get back to practicing and I look forward to returning to the course sometime around late summer/early fall. I would like to thank my family, friends, sponsors and partners for their continued support of me. I will share positive news on my rehab as I progress and I look forward to seeing everyone at the course again soon!
