Just finished addressing a major issue on the “For the Record” podcast : the rise of deepfake videos and false content being pushed to destabilize our country. The level of sophistication is alarming. Voices and videos can now be cloned to look real, and many of these fake posts are used to create fear, spread hate, and weaken our unity. At a time when Africa is facing increasing security threats, those exploiting social media for toxic agendas must not be allowed to succeed. I must enjoin Nigerians that, beyond the legal consequences of spreading fake news, we all have a patriotic duty to protect our nation. Before you share anything online, take a moment to verify the source and confirm the facts. Think of it as a two-way authentication for national security. If we all play our part, we can stop misinformation from tearing us apart and keep our country safer and stronger.

As much as I used to love ‘The Retreat Ceremony’ at Attari Border, I seem to have outgrown it. Ironically, before leaving for my duty at a border village, I explained to my parents that we shall have mock drills today and they must have their dinner in time. Also told them that I would go watch the evacuation drills on my way back as I wanted to see what and how it is to be done. With that sombre mood I go about my work and here passing by the last toll towards Attari, I find truck loads of people and taxis going for the ‘Retreat Ceremony’. Kind of confusing it is. For those residing in border cities we are being prepared for imminent threats and for those coming from afar it’s a source of entertainment. This post is not meant to offend anyone’s sensibilities but just voicing my thoughts on how I felt watching people happily singing and going to Attari today. #Attari #Amritsar #IndiaPakistanWar
