Watching the Zambia 🇿🇲 – Ghana 🇬🇭 fugu banter, I realised it was never really about the cloth. What Ghana defended so strongly and with such unwavering confidence, was not just fashion, but heritage and a clear sense of who they are as a people. That reaction quietly exposes something about us too. Sometimes it feels like we either have not fully defined our own cultural identity, or we do not carry it with the same pride and certainty. Not because we lack history, but because we have not yet agreed on what binds us together beyond tribe, politics, geography etc. To our good people of Ghana 🇬🇭, please don’t take offense. This was just a friendly cultural appreciation. In many ways, it was a lesson in what it looks like when a nation truly knows itself. 🇬🇭🤝🇿🇲

Honouring the spirit of Swadeshi Craftsmanship of the Daughters of West Bengal. I am delighted to share that the "Birbhum Khadi Dal" has achieved a remarkable feat by crafting a massive National Flag, measuring an impressive 30 feet by 20 feet. This magnificent flag, created entirely from pure Khadi, stands as a testament to the dedication and skill of 20 Women Weavers who worked tirelessly for an entire month to complete this masterpiece. This symbol of our pride was handed over to the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), and has been hoisted at the Maithon Dam to mark their Foundation Day, serving as a beacon of inspiration for all who visit. I commend the Women Weavers for their perseverance and their contribution to the 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiatives. I have also encouraged our District Magistrates, Sub-Divisional Officers and BDOs across all districts to procure our National Flags from such talented artisans to promote our local heritage. Let us continue to support our grassroots weavers and carry our Tiranga with pride.

With a heart weighed down by sorrow, I have received official confirmation from the family of Charles Kwadwo Fosu, confirming the passing of our beloved Daddy Lumba. This is more than a personal loss; it’s an irreplaceable wound to the very soul of Ghana. He was the voice of the Ghanaian story. In our moments of joy, his music lifted us. In our seasons of pain, his songs wept with us, giving words to emotions we couldn’t express. He gifted our beloved party the NPP an anthem of hope, yet always remained a son of Ghana first. For a generation, he was our soundtrack. Today, his own words from "Makra Mo" pierce our hearts: "Farewell, perhaps this is the last time you’ll see me." Ghana has lost a national treasure, but legends do not die. His voice will echo forever in the hearts of a grateful nation. On our second day in India, our delegation travelled by road to visit the Taj Mahal, a journey that was truly worth every moment. As the Taj Mahal came into view, you could hear the collective “wow” from our delegation, a moment that captured just how breathtaking the experience truly was. Standing before one of the Seven Wonders of the World, we were all struck by its beauty, history, and the remarkable craftsmanship that has endured through generations. We also had the opportunity to visit the nearby village, home to descendants of the original builders, who continue to care for and preserve the site today. It was a powerful reminder of how heritage is passed down, protected with pride, and kept alive through responsibility and stewardship. My sincere thanks to our tour guides for thoughtfully bringing this history to life and enriching the experience for us all.

In this video, the historic President of the Republic of Kosovo, Ibrahim Rugova, explains that the name "Kosovo" ("Kosmet"), used by the Yugoslav regime, aims to create a false history where the Serbs claim that this territory belonged to them. Rugova emphasizes that the true name of this region has historically been Dardania, a name that reflects the true identity and heritage of Kosovo, belonging to the Albanians, the only indigenous people of these lands. It should also be noted that the Serbs came to these lands from the Carpathian region, challenging the indigenous people who had lived in these territories for centuries, relying on a falsified history of Serbia. Over the centuries, they have tried to eliminate the documentation and facts of the Albanian people, even appropriating their monuments, which served as irrefutable evidence to validate Albanian history. This was done with the aim of making their propaganda work, a propaganda that often contradicts itself. Such a falsified history is proof of a mentality that seeks to deny the truth and impose a foreign narrative. People who appropriate the history of another nation have no love for their own heritage, and this is, undoubtedly, a tragic reality. Over the centuries, they have tried to eliminate the documentation and facts of the Albanian people, even appropriating their monuments, which served as irrefutable evidence to validate Albanian history. This was done with the aim of making their propaganda work, a propaganda that often contradicts itself. Such a falsified history is proof of a mentality that seeks to deny the truth and impose a foreign narrative. People who appropriate the history of another nation have no love for their own heritage, and this is, undoubtedly, a tragic reality. MAHAMA ANNOUNCES HISTORIC FIRST DELIVERY OF GHANAIAN CRUDE TO LOCAL REFINERY President Outlines Bold Value-Addition Agenda at Ghana Diaspora Town Hall Meeting in London LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — President John Dramani Mahama has announced a landmark breakthrough in Ghana’s energy and industrial transformation agenda, revealing that Ghana will, for the first time in years, begin refining its own crude oil locally as part of a comprehensive strategy to drive industrialization, create jobs, strengthen local manufacturing, and retain greater value within the national economy. Addressing hundreds of Ghanaians, investors, professionals and business leaders at the Ghana Diaspora Town Hall Meeting in London, President Mahama outlined his administration’s vision for transforming Ghana from an exporter of raw materials into a modern industrial economy powered by value addition and local production. Speaking passionately about the future of Ghana’s energy sector, President Mahama disclosed that the government is aggressively expanding offshore oil and gas production while simultaneously ensuring that the country develops the capacity to process more of its natural resources domestically. According to the President, Ghana has secured major upstream investments, including a fresh commitment of approximately US$1.5 billion from ENI in the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) Field to increase the production of both oil and natural gas. However, he stressed that increased production alone is not enough. “We are about to make history again. We did it during my first term, but after we left office it did not continue. In June, we will deliver a parcel of Ghanaian crude from our own oil fields to a refinery in Ghana for processing,” President Mahama announced to loud applause from the audience. The announcement is being viewed as a defining moment in Ghana’s petroleum industry and a significant step toward reducing the country’s dependence on imported refined petroleum products. For decades, Ghana has exported crude oil while importing refined fuels and petroleum products at considerable cost. President Mahama argued that such a model effectively exports jobs, technology, industrial growth, and economic opportunities to other countries. “Normally we produce the oil and export it. Then we import finished petroleum products or import crude again to refine. That cycle must change,” he stated. He explained that local refining will enable Ghana to capture more value from its natural resources, retain foreign exchange, strengthen local supply chains, stimulate industrial growth, and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs for Ghanaians. The President emphasized that the refining initiative forms part of a broader national industrial strategy aimed at building a fully integrated petroleum value chain encompassing extraction, refining, storage, petrochemicals, distribution, manufacturing and exports. Beyond oil and gas, President Mahama called for a national commitment to value addition across every productive sector of the economy. Using Ghana’s mineral sector as an example, he noted that the country continues to export raw gold, manganese, bauxite and other minerals for processing abroad, only to import higher-value finished products at a premium. “When we export raw materials and somebody else processes them, we create jobs in their economy instead of our own. The finished products are then exported back to us. That model cannot deliver sustainable prosperity,” he said. The President stressed that Ghana’s future economic success depends on deliberately moving up the value chain through investments in manufacturing, agro-processing, mineral beneficiation, fertilizer production, petrochemicals, food processing and strategic industrial parks. Economic analysts believe the strategy could significantly reposition Ghana as a leading industrial hub in West Africa while accelerating job creation, technology transfer and export growth.
