Is it true that govt gave Dangote $2billon for 20% of the Refinery Cos it's true that Sinclair Oil Assets was sold for $2.6 billion you see this system of politics in this country is transactional... the more you look the less you see

Man actually has a point, not gonna lie. As much as we hate to say this, he’s 100% right. Let's put away sentiments at this point. The Nigerian government has invested so much in Dangote, but he just wants to control the system entirely.

This Seun Kuti too dey do too wise or too know. Where did they do comparative evaluation of Sinclair oil asset and Dangote refinery wey show say dem get same value. Anybody who has been involved in company or assets acquisition deals could confirm that many considerations go into setting a purchase price for such an acquisition of Sinclair Oil’s assets by HollyFrontier. Without saying much, two main issues are considered in the determination of the price of acquisition viz: 1. The performance of the shares of the company to be acquired 2, Synergy effects the acquisition will pull in the market Most companies undergo acquisition because their shares are not doing fine. This will automatically imply that it would be much cheaper to acquire such company (with established infrastructure) at a time they are not doing well in the market than to build those structures from the scratch like Dangote has done with his refinery. It’s just like going to buy/acquire a shop made of “ a container” which the owner wants to sell because the business carried out in such container is not doing find. If it costs 2 million naira to hire a welder to build such container from scratch using steel plates and bars + his labour; it would cost much less ( may be just 200,000 naira) to acquire that container at a time the owner wants to do away with it. What Seun has done now is to tell a man who built his own container for 2 million naira that he lied about the cost because another man in the same town purchased an “abandoned” container OF THE SAME SIZE AND COLOUR for N200,000. Sinclair oil was acquired for $2.6bn and not 2 billion dollars which Seun mentioned. Moreover, this was even only about 76% of the shares. HollyFrontier did not acquire 100% of Sinclair Oil’s asset. They got only about 76% for $2.6 billion. So, Seun’s narrative that Dangote refinery was overpriced just by comparing it with Sinclair oil acquisition is FAULTY by his METHODOLOGY. In scientific analysis, you can only be taken serious in your comparative analysis if you compare two things that are similar or that go through similar process.
