Yes, but these were all brittle hard coded actions. Demo ware. It couldn’t do anything in the real world. AI control is the piece that should unlock real world usefulness. We’ve seen glimpses of AI mediated actions in the latest crop of humanoids. That’s a key pillar where humanoids will succeed or fail (other two being finger sensor/dexterity and cost/mass manufacturing).

I have wanted the glorious robot future for so long. So very long. When I was young I could never understand why we didn’t have more robots. There was a big push for them around the time Star Wars came out, and then it went away almost entirely for many years.
