To be honest, I’ve already built three simple, single-feature apps that generate revenue surprisingly easily but I’m keeping them in stealth mode for now. I’ll share them once I reach #1 in the market, lol. Back to this project: Fable 5 was banned, but that’s fine. Opus 4.8 still works really well. A quick reintroduction: I’m building a gamified workout and gym-tracking app. This market is already crowded, but none of the existing apps truly excite me, so I decided to build one specifically for myself with polished UI/UX and a proper gamification system. So this game is real now, fully built with GPT-5.5. I told Codex to use the imagegen skill to generate a reference UI and sprites, and used the Build macOS Apps plugin to build the app for a native retro fantasy labyrinth game! Adjusted the UI in a few prompts and here we are!

In my last post, someone said the animations looked laggy 👀 Turns out… they were right but only on simulator. I’d been testing on Rork simulator + my own simulator the whole time → UI felt choppy. So I spent time optimizing animations with Opus 4.7. Then I built it on a real device (iPhone 17 Pro Max)… And damn, smooth af. Almost zero lag. Now the app is ~80% done. I’m already using it daily at the gym. Even had a few gym bros ask: “yo what app is that?” Feels like I’m already 50% there lol 🤟

A lot of people ask why I use Rork but still use Cursor or Claude Code. Honestly, it’s simple, I don’t like relying on just one AI tool. Usually I start building the app with Rork, then connect it to GitHub and continue developing with Claude Code or Cursor. Some features just need deeper customization, and it’s much easier to handle those outside of Rork. PS: Rork sponsored me to build my app.

Most AI slop consumer apps will be DEAD in 5 years. I think this is where the market is headed I was bored today so I texted Rork to make me a Snake game. 2 minutes later I'm playing snake on my phone. I also did this yesterday with a to-do list app. In a way Rork is like a super app That can make apps on your phone. And it's not hard for consumers To utilize, This game took 1 prompt. most simple apps that can be one shotted with 1 prompt are most likely done for once this hits the consumer market. Eventually all the slop apps will be filtered out. And the apps that will survive are the ones that have community, gamification and identity that can't be replicated So Start building Genuine banger apps.

Unhappy with current apps on the market, I built my own voice tracking teleprompter app with Expo using Cursor It was really difficult, particularly as it required fuzzy matching and ways to handle mispronunciation. I think I have it nailed now though and I now have the ability to pause, speed up and slow down as well as change text size and orientation.
