Horsford: My amendment tonight would redirect that $40 billion bailout from Argentina… we would use those funds to extend the premium tax credits for two years.

@BlazeLuck The “currency exchange” is for $20 Billion not $40B and according to @SecScottBessent the deal has made the US a profit. Reality…That $20 billion wouldn’t cover one month of what the ACA costs the taxpayer.

You know damn well Republicans would rather burn that money than give people affordable Healthcare.

I wonder how many Republicans would rather that money go to their constituents than Argentina. I would bet it’s enough to pass legislation if Mike Johnson had the balls to bring it to a vote. Trump would never sign it because he doesn’t care what Republicans or his voters want.

We’ve already used over a TRILLION tax payer dollars to prop up the sh*t policy that Obamacare is. Isn’t that enough?!?

Do you even know what the Currency swap with Argentina was about? It's an investment that will pay dividends. It was a trade, not a gift. There will be no extra funds if you stop the currency swap.

Looks like the Democrats are stepping up, putting America first by wanting to redirect that $40 billion meant for Argentina straight into helping folks here at home with healthcare.

Hey, @RepHorsford, hire better staff. The Treasury has lent only $20 billion to Argentina by means of a “currency swap.” It can’t be undone. News reports say Treasury already sold the Argentine pesos they received. Even if you could screw Argentina, $20 billion would get you about 7 or 8 months of continued ACA premium subsidies for higher-earning households.

These people are fucking idiots. That was a currency swap not "aid" or a "loan" to Argentina. These liars will say anything to keep their ignorant sycophants screaming with TDS.

Makes sense — every dollar we spend should lift people here at home. Healthcare, education, housing — that’s real national strength.

Actually the money given to Argentina does not leave the country— it goes to $hedgefund managers in New York who hold Argentinian $debt. Oh, yeah, those money managers are in trump’s $billionaires club.

Nope. Wrong again. According to a recent estimate from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), extending the enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies—specifically the premium tax credits—through December 31, 2026, would cost the federal government approximately $31 billion in 2026. You are a financial ignoramous.

How can a sitting congressman NOT KNOW the structure of the package for Argentina?? It’s a $20billion currency swap with interest which means the US actually makes money in the long term. And the other $20 is not even coming from the Govt. It’s private sector loans and deals. 🤦‍♀️

How can a Representative be so ignorant of laws and congressional acts already passed? Legal Authority and Purpose: The ESF is designated for specific financial stabilization purposes, not for domestic policy initiatives like healthcare funding. Redirecting these funds would require a change in the legal authority governing the ESF, which is not within the direct purview of a House representative's amendment alone.

Is your average American going to enter into a currency swap arrangement with the United States Government and Federal Reserve & pay it all back later? Do Democrats really think we're all that dumb? No wonder the United States is $38 TRILLION in Debt!
