The RESET Center has been open just over 24 hours, and already dozens of people using drugs in public have been brought off the streets. This center is making it easier for officers to get back on the beat while giving people a real opportunity for treatment. If a person lives in a tent but also has their own apartment, are they really homeless? I know countless people who technically have housing but choose to live on the streets. By definition, that does not make them homeless. Yet they still utilize homeless services. Due to poor tracking and weak verification within the social service system, most people are unaware this is happening. That raises an uncomfortable question: is this something the system fails to see—or something it would rather not know?
