Rome was the first city of its kind to provide free, clean drinking water to its citizens since the 1870’s. It’s the same water they use in the homes, the water never shuts off. That prevents stagnant water and the proliferation of bacteria. The next time you are in Rome, try it and you will say the same thing millions have said before you, that it’s probably the best tasting spring water you ever had.

As people tend to do, many are overreacting to the expected “Jubilee Year crowds” in Rome. I was just there, and here’s my experience: In peak season, Rome is always crowded, and 2025 is no more packed than any other year — as long as you don’t try to compete with all the pilgrims at “their” sights, such as St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. My advice is to treat 2025 Rome like Rome in any other year: Be sure to book your room well in advance, go online ahead of time to reserve timed entries to sights that are always crowded, and be mindful that secondary sights — such as the Baths of Caracalla, an impressive alternative to going inside the packed Colosseum — will be more inviting than ever. (Also, don’t worry about Jubilee Year impacts beyond Rome. It’s no more crowded than usual anywhere else in Italy, either.) Have a great trip…I just did!
