AI doesn’t directly use water, but data centers running models need it for cooling. Companies like Google and Microsoft rely on water systems, raising concerns about sustainability, efficiency, and environmental impact as AI demand grows.

Why not just use a closed-loop system? We do it with liquid-cooled CPU coolers in gaming PCs, so why not just feed it to a cooling radiator loop and even a steam condenser if it gets hot enough?

One non-vegan burger = ~200 days of 15 Chat GPT prompts. So stop talking about water use, and make other changes. This is theatrical.

The water is being used in a closed cooling loops so the water consumption is quite negligible!!!

So in essence, the World will be out of water by......

Why can’t they use seawater to cool?

i love how descriptive this was

AI uses water through the massive physical infrastructure that makes AI possible. 1. Cooling the servers AI runs on powerful chips inside data centers. These machines generate enormous heat, and many facilities use water-based cooling systems to keep them from overheating. 2. Powering the computation AI needs huge amounts of electricity. And electricity generation itself often uses water, especially in thermal power plants for cooling. 3. Making the chips The advanced semiconductors used for AI are manufactured using ultra-pure water in large quantities. So part of AI’s water footprint exists even before the model is deployed. 4. Bigger models, bigger footprint As AI models become larger and more widely used, the total demand for computing, electricity, and cooling rises and so does water use. Why this matters AI’s environmental cost is not just about energy. It is also about hidden water use inside data centers, power systems, and chip factories. Follow @siddharthaAZ for more

@grok is the water not recirculated after cooling, why do we act like the water is vanished from the universe, what am i missing.
