Atheists are pragmatic. You go to funeral to show sympathy and provide help with the loss to the family. It's the people alive who benefit from funeral rites. Theists greatly overestimate how much Atheists think about Atheism itself, it mostly comes up when dealing with Theists.

Buddhists have some pretty elaborate funerals. They don’t believe in a supreme creator, just that by living a righteous life, you can overcome cause-and-effect & acheive an end to suffering. Not saying I agree, but Buddhism is a form of an orthodox atheist religion.

At our Landmark Baptist church, you never hear anyone say "Brother so and so died". Instead, they say "Brother so and so went to be with the Lord". That way of saying it is a testimony and reflects the hope of salvation. Landmark Baptist funerals usually focus on 2 points: 1. We know brother so and so is with the Lord. 2. A call to repentance and salvation.

Atheism is the most illogical religion that has ever been created in the history of mankind. Most of these people are godless pagans; this is why you see them care more about animals (fur babies) than a human being.

Many atheists become Christians for the duration of the funeral then go back to being atheists again afterwards.

I still go to a funeral, but i don't believe in the heaven crap at all. Im just there to say goodbye to the person. We are born because 2 people fucked and when we die it's just over. That's life, nothing magical. Born -> Living Life -> Death. It's that simple
