It’s crazy to me. Americans have no idea what they’re missing. I flew into Paris last year and took a bullet train to the Normandy beaches. I flew to Stockholm a few weeks ago and took an overnight sleeper train to Narvik Norway. High speed trains are much better than traveling by air. You can get there 5 minutes in advance. Security is a breeze. They don’t limit your luggage. There are no seatbelt signs. It’s roomy and ALWAYS on time. It’s inexpensive, and the employees are there to assist you—not yell at you. My wife and I plan to visit China next year and take their high speed rails all across the county.

Because then vain fragile ego’ed humans couldn’t measure their value to strangers by showing off the kind of car they drive.

Maybe because Boeing and automakers don’t want it, thus having big effect and impact on national policy.

China can do it because they have slave labor and there is a death penalty for corruption. We have unions in bed with politicians and penalties for corruption are unheard of.
