META’s data center is using 75 million gallons per year. The Rio Grande River in Arizona is completely dry in many locations They don’t want you to know, the majority of this water has been sold off over the past 5 years - A huge amount goes to agriculture, about 87% - Mexico gets an enormous amount of the water because of the US-Mexico Water Treaty Mexico is supposed to send about 1/3 of the water from certain rivers that flow into the Rio Grande to the US, mainly for Texas farmers - Minimum: Average of 350,000 acre-feet per year or 1.75 million over 5 years. - Mexico keeps the other 2/3 of that water for its own farms and cities - The US sends Mexico a lot of water from the Colorado River about 1.5 million acre feet per year During 2020-2025 Mexico only delivered about 50% of the water it owed to the United States at the end of the 5 year period Mexico continues to keep way more than their agreed share
