The reason they tell you to vote is because the ruling class knows the people cannot vote their way out of a capitalist dictatorship when both parties are completely controlled by capital. The only way to change a capitalist regime like the United States that values profits and property more than human life is to disrupt and take back the one thing the system cares about: Capital. To do this the working class must organize a mass movement to seize the means of production and put the economy directly in the hands of the people, not the oligarchs. A better world that puts people over profits is possible but only if we come together and fight for it!

🔴Zimbabwean academic Dr Nkululeko Sibanda, former opposition CCC leader Nelson Chamisa's spokesperson who studied Politics and International Relations at the University of Huddersfield in the United Kingdom, says it does not really matter whether a President is elected directly by voters or by the people’s representatives in parliament. Sibanda also says electing a President through parliament does not disenfranchise voters or take away the one man one vote right - universal adult suffrage - because that is just a different electoral system not qualified franchise. He says those arguing the one man one vote principle or the right to vote has been taken away have a "poor" argument that is not correct. The real problem with the current constitutional amendments, he says, is that they seek to resolve Zanu PF internal succession politics using national institutions and dragging the whole nation into the vortex of a volatile party power struggle. That is where is the problem is, but there is a silver lining in the dark cloud.

The only real question is whether that person answers to you — or whether you answer to them. In the West, we no longer have sovereign political leaders. We have managers. They perform democracy while the actual power sits with people no voter can remove — the men who control the platforms, the capital, the data, and the narrative. Apple. Google. The financial houses behind them. They set the boundaries of what is allowed, and politicians operate inside those boundaries. Only the state has the power to transform society at scale, as shown by China’s mass poverty reduction through planned, state‑led development. In most of the Global South, states cannot play this role because they are not truly sovereign. Instead, they are neocolonial structures run by “puppet” elites serving foreign capital. Extreme global wage inequalities and value transfers are evidence of a system that enriches the North through cheap labour and shortens lives in the South by deliberate design. Post‑independence anti‑colonial land movements were crushed and replaced by comprador elites who, under IMF and World Bank “reforms”, imposed austerity, privatization, and land dispossession. Public services, especially education and health, were gutted, pushing millions like Samuel out of school. Instead of funding social schemes to help young people like Samuel, Nigerian wealth siphoned off through corrupt schemes tied to foreign interests. The drinks in China not only look better but seem to have more variety, creativity, and attention to detail than what’s found at Starbucks or Dunkin’. The presentation and quality are on an entirely different level. Grocery shopping is another surprise. After watching a Chinese grocery haul, she was stunned—two full bags of fresh, vibrant produce, all for the equivalent of just $5. In the U.S., the same amount would cost significantly more, and the quality often wouldn’t compare. And then there’s breakfast culture. In China, people regularly go out for breakfast—not just for a quick coffee and a pastry, but for a full meal, including a drink, for about $1.50. Meanwhile, a basic coffee in the U.S. can easily cost more than $5. Of course, she’s not ignoring the political and governmental issues in China. There are aspects of communism and state control that she strongly disagrees with. But when it comes to everyday living, what people experience in China seems remarkably better than what Americans are often led to believe. A capital city is one thing that either brings pride or shame to a people. This is in the heart of Harare, and it shows the economic degradation of our country. I do not know how my fellow Zimbabweans feel watching sadza being cooked in the middle of the capital city like this, at a place where real and structured economic life used to be vibrant and thriving. This is what one of the once beautiful and industrialised African capital cities has been reduced to. And this is happening barely a kilometre from the president’s office and less than 500 metres from the mayor’s office. A capital city should reflect order, productivity, and dignity. Instead, what we are witnessing is the visible collapse of urban management and the slow decay of a city that once stood as a symbol of possibility all because of failed economic policies. This should bring shame to every right thinking Zimbabwean, regardless of political persuasion. This man, and many like him, are victims of a failed system. A society that cannot create opportunities for its people pushes them into this kind of undignified survival mode. What we are witnessing in this video is not individual failure, but the real human cost of economic collapse and broken governance.

Now Vice President of the Beijing-based Centre for China and Globalisation, he gained international prominence following a viral interview with Cathy Newman of Channel 4 in the heat of the US trade war with China. Speaking at the inaugural session of the International Security Conference on Africa (ISCA), held in Kigali, Rwanda in June 2025, Gao elicited thunderous applause from the audience when he remarked that Africa should be free to use its own judgment to determine which country between China and the US works best as its development and trading partner. Here’s how he put it: “The real choice for Africa, as well as for the rest of mankind, is whether the United States is doing the right thing or is doing the wrong thing or whether China is doing the right thing or doing the wrong thing. If the United States is doing the right thing, work with the United States. But if the United States is doing the wrong thing, why should you bother about working with the United States or following its leadership? What a foolish response. Winnie Madikizela-Mandela was a giant of the liberation struggle. Thabo Mbeki was a key figure in the ANC in exile, working closely with O.R. Tambo. Max Sisulu and Lindiwe Sisulu were activists in their own right, with their own political records and contributions. Trying to compare that with Jacob Zuma appointing his son Duduzane as Deputy President of the MK Party is absurd. The MK Party is not being run like a democratic political movement; it is being run like a family business, and that is what it is. The party has become a vehicle for Jacob Zuma to pursue personal vendettas, protect his financial interests and fight his perceived enemies. His son has no comparable political credentials and is linked to the Gupta network where he was a director. The Guptas are synonymous with the looting of South Africa’s public resources during the state capture era. To equate Duduzane’s appointment with the achievements and sacrifices of people like Winnie Madikizela-Mandela and Thabo Mbeki is not just historically inaccurate and an insult; it is intellectually dishonest. It is an insult to South Africa’s liberation history. What Jacob Zuma is doing is exactly the kind of behaviour that those who oppose democracy point to when they argue that democracy does not work in Africa. They use examples like this to claim that elections simply replace one form of patronage with another. There is a reason why this looks so familiar. In Equatorial Guinea, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo appointed his son, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue who is widely known as Teodorín, as Vice President while he remained President. It became a textbook example of dynastic politics masquerading as democracy. That is what the MK Party is increasingly beginning to resemble. Political parties are supposed to serve the people, not families. Leadership positions should be earned through merit, experience and democratic processes, not inherited through bloodlines. MK supporters are free to defend this decision if they wish, but trying to justify blatant nepotism only weakens their argument. You cannot claim to be fighting for democracy while applauding the concentration of power within one family. That is not democratic renewal. It is dynastic politics dressed up as a political movement.

It is an insult to South Africa’s liberation history. What Jacob Zuma is doing is exactly the kind of behaviour that those who oppose democracy point to when they argue that democracy does not work in Africa. They use examples like this to claim that elections simply replace one form of patronage with another. There is a reason why this looks so familiar. In Equatorial Guinea, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo appointed his son, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue who is widely known as Teodorín, as Vice President while he remained President. It became a textbook example of dynastic politics masquerading as democracy. That is what the MK Party is increasingly beginning to resemble. Political parties are supposed to serve the people, not families. Leadership positions should be earned through merit, experience and democratic processes, not inherited through bloodlines. MK supporters are free to defend this decision if they wish, but trying to justify blatant nepotism only weakens their argument. You cannot claim to be fighting for democracy while applauding the concentration of power within one family. That is not democratic renewal. It is dynastic politics dressed up as a political movement.
