China-built road cuts time on way to school on Pacific island A three-hour walk to school is now a 20-minute drive for kids on Vanuatu's Pentecost Island, thanks to a new China-built road, according to Li Minggang, China's ambassador to Vanuatu. In this video, Li explains how similar projects across several other islands are changing daily life. But as Li points out, getting kids to school is only part of the picture. Training programs in farming, fishing and clean energy, plus scholarships to study in China, are giving Vanuatu the skills to build its own future.

China's governance model resonates with Pacific leaders "The answers to the development challenges faced by Vanuatu can all be found in China," said Charlot Salwai, former prime minister of Vanuatu. And he's not the only one who thinks so. In this video, Li Minggang, China's ambassador to Vanuatu, explains why Pacific leaders are looking to China's governance model. What is most appealing to China’s friends is "the two remarkable feats": growing the economy fast for over four decades and keeping society stable. It's a model, Li says, that more and more countries want to learn from.

🇳🇵🇨🇳 Nepal’s Foreign Minister Walks Back Demands on China Following Catastrophic Mudslide China, the United States and India have made “extremely large” contributions to climate change and left smaller nations “enduring the price of it”, Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal told Kantipur TV. “Nepal must hold its head high internationally and turn this into a matter of justice,” he said in the interview, which was broadcast earlier in the week following a mudslide that killed over 1,350 people. “We will raise this matter explicitly and forcefully on international platforms.” Western press has had a field day placing blame for the mudslide on China for its infrastructure and development projects in the Himalayas. Shishir Khanal recently met with Chinese Ambassador Zhang Maoming in Kathmandu to thank China for its emergency disaster relief and assistance following deadly floods and mudslides. It is clear that this devastating natural disaster is being weaponized against China.

China stands with fellow developing nations China's actions make it clear that it stands with fellow developing countries, says Zhou Yongmei, Professor of Practice in Institutional Development at Peking University's Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development. By holding on to its developing status, China signals it is in their corner on fair trade and climate talks. Many developing nations draw strength from China's backing and appreciate its support at the negotiating table. Zhou notes this solidarity gives developing nations the confidence to demand a meaningful seat at the table and drive change on their own terms.

Leonardo DiCaprio endorsed Kamala Harris because the Hurricanes were Caused by “Climate Change” Translation—— I did things to little kids at those Diddy Parties and/or on Epstein Island, so I’m trying to save my ass… He says climate change is killing the earth and America must renter the Paris Climate Accord in order to save it… The truth is, the Paris Climate Accord is nothing but a scam to pilfer trillions of dollars out of America. America must foot the bill first and make all these changes first… but Countries like China, a country that generates the MOST pollution by far, won’t chip in until 2030-2035. Climate change is a damn scam.

#WATCH | Kathmandu, Nepal: On Nepal's reported climate-related compensation demand, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal, Shisir Khanal, says, "Neither I nor anyone in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Government of Nepal has claimed or asked for compensation from India or any other country, including China or the United States. Our call has been for the global community to look at this disaster from the perspective of climate change and the impact it's having in Nepal. I've also mentioned that all three countries - China, India, and Nepal face and share similar environmental ecosystems. We are all impacted by climate change in the Himalayas as well. Our call is for all these three countries to come together to be better prepared, but also for the global community to support and, particularly, to look at this disaster not just as a one-time event or to look at this as one-time support, but to think about the impact rising temperatures and climate change are having on communities across the world. It is our call for the global community to come together and support smaller nations like Nepal..."

From extreme drought (and now floods) in New Mexico to coastal flooding and hurricanes—our communities are on the frontlines of climate change. And, that is why it is such a critical issue and why we spent the week in New York at Climate Week meeting with national and international partners to discuss how we restore America’s climate leadership. As a New Mexican, who has spent my life working on water issues, this fight is personal.
