In my high school, it was. So was truck driving.

For a guy this has to be the best job in the world! When someone asks you what you do, you can literally say, “I blow shit up for a living.”

That would be an awesome career day guy right there! Kids would be like, “What do you do for a living?” “I blow stuff up for a living!” Instant hero! 😂

There are very few problems that cannot be solved by a suitable application of high explosives.

Because nobody would do anything else and we'd all be rigging hillsides to blow. 😂 There needs to be bank tellers and hairstylist. 🤣

I know right. If I knew about this I wouldn’t have joined the military. I mean he gets to blow up stuff, and no one shoots back.

My son is learning that as a Mining Engineering student, with an Explosives Engineering minor.

Lol in 3rd grade my dad came and showed the class what he did during the Gulf War as a targeteer for the stealth fighters in the Air Force. I was thinking everyone was gonna be bored outta their minds watching these old grainy b&w strike videos he brought. You’d see the bombs go off and vehicles exploding and all my classmates just start jumping and cheering, just wasn’t expecting that reaction

I’ve been on jobs where we had to have a blasting specialist come in and do there thing. It’s gets us dudes kinda going 😝 however the cleanup is usually a pain.

I believe the career day is when they offer the ASVAB test in high school and they ask you if you if you know what Combat Engineers do? 😀

One of my friends worked for General drilling, drilling the holes in the quarries that then would have the explosive put into. I went with him to some of the quarries on weekends. Very cool to see how it's all set up. Also a very dangerous job. A rig went over the edge killing 1

my dad used to do this... i spent my childhood digging holes for explosives, clearing hills and buiding roads. it was a fun job. but 30 hours a week during school made it difficult.

Just like a rain dance, timing is everything.... The best shots just heave the ground without the hole "rifling" fly rock all over.

That wold have probably have changed my whole career path. I got to work with some explosives in the military, and it was awesome.
