Here's the source for the person who said that Acosta said that Epstein belonged to intelligence. "former senior White House official", who clearly was friendly with Jeffrey Epstein. This person was talking to Vicky Ward who was writing "Kushner Inc." where Bannon was clearly an unnamed source and is mentioned in the book 600+ times.

On the August 16, 2024 edition of the Joe Rogan podcast, Peter Thiel said Alex Acosta "testified" to Congress when he was nominated as Trump's Labor Secretary that Jeffrey Epstein "belonged to intelligence," and that's why Acosta gave Epstein the supposedly lenient sentence in Florida. Acosta never testified to that before Congress. Thiel was just recycling the same old triple-hearsay 2019 Daily Beast quote, almost certainly originating with Steve Bannon, and then adding newly-invented details to make the quote sound even more authoritative. Somehow this ends up with Thiel claiming that Acosta made the "belonged to intelligence" statement in testimony to Congress -- which is just totally false. Completely made up. The only time Acosta actually did testify under oath on the matter, to DOJ investigators, he expressly *denied* having any knowledge that Epstein was an "intelligence asset," or that Epstein's purported ties to intelligence had any influence on the 2007-2008 plea negotiations in Florida. Thiel's entire theory of this issue, as usual, is premised on a fictitious narrative that he probably picked up from unscrupulous "researchers" on the internet. I go back and forth on this one. Sometimes I believe Epstein was a puppet for the US Intelligence machine, sometimes I feel it was a foreign nation-state. What I have zero doubt of is that he was an intelligence-gathering tool of some kind.
