How do we respond when we detect an asteroid that could pose a threat to Earth? Follow the story behind a recent real-world test in our newest documentary, Planetary Defenders: This Is Not an Exercise, now streaming for free on NASA+.

imagine getting the warning and realizing this is no longer a movie plot

Planetary defense is one of those things you hope we never have to use

Thank you, @NASA, for bringing planetary defense into public view. Documenting a real-world asteroid response exercise shows how science, coordination, and preparedness work together when the stakes are highest. Looking forward to watching Planetary Defenders: This Is Not an Exercise on NASA+.

Amazing 🤩

So we lowkey have asteroid drills now?

You destroy that asteroid with lasers!! (Or use some form of gravitational pull to divert it?) I dunno? (I'm only here for a day) 💔

The fact that this is a real-world test is both terrifying and insanely cool

يوثق فيلم "Planetary Defenders: This Is Not an Exercise" عملية تعاون دولية معقدة، حيث يعمل الخبراء من مختلف المجالات معاً لمراقبة وتتبع الكويكبات القريبة من الأرض.

we throw a starship into it

Normally I’d suggest calling Bruce Willis

Crazy to think this is real-life planning, not just a movie plot.

Call Bruce

If is coming to us why not mine it? Ahahah
