How do you feel about the Steam Frame controllers using AA batteries?

Anyone complaining, I've only seen people say that AAs are a waste. Somehow the concept of rechargables has entirely missed them. lol Internal battery means tough to replace, less 3rd party accessory customization, and no choice if you forgot to charge and want to play.

Swappable batteries just makes sense to me. Better yet, get rechargeable batteries and it’s even better. I don’t wanna wait hours for a built-in battery to fully charge.

These lil usb c guys are my fav

Thank goodness. Got a bank of about 15 recyclable batteries I use for Quest 3. Nothing worse than inbuilt batteries that stop you playing when they are out of juice... Side-eyeing PSVR 2

I hope they offer something like Meta’s compact charging dock with rechargeable batteries.

I've been swapping rechargeable AAs for a decade now. My Vive wanda are pretty badly degraded, and the index has 1 out of my 3 pairs are going. I really prefer AAs for hardware longevity.

Considering that I have had the lithium batteries die in two Index controllers now, I am perfectly fine with swappable batteries. I think it's a good idea.

It's great. Internal lithium batteries degrade over charge cycles. You can replace batteries forever cheaply while never having to buy new controllers. It's a pro consumer move by Valve.

I prefer it. If the battery goes bad, I won't have to replace the whole controller. I can also use rechargeable AA batteries.

Its great bro, you dont have to wait to play, pop in two batteries and go!, unlike Playstation controllers where its easy to play and charge, i think vr controllers will need to use AA because charging w/ lithium ion is bad. I dont wanna wait to play, i wanna play!

As someone who still has old OG Vive controllers and trackers that dies relatively fast, I would love to have AA batteries in these. No charging or decays, just quick swaps.

its fixes both of the issues with the batteries. with a built in battery you have it rechargeable, but you cant easily replace it. with AA batteries you can have it both rechargeable and replacable, with a bonus of having no gaming downtime by swapping extra set of batteries

I can get rechargeable batteries that are easily swapped for when the ones I'm using die and I don't have to put them down to recharge. Swappable batteries are a fantastic way to keep your VR controllers going it's also why Hot swappable batteries for headsets are dope.

JUST. USE. RECHARGEABLE. BATTERIES!!!

Perfectly fine: rechargable AA work perfectly fine, if you wanna replace them with a battery compatible with a cradle charging stand thingy you’ll probably be able to, and AA are easy to find in a pinch

I think it just makes sense that way. You can quickly swap the batteries and get back into playing without having to wait an hour for the controllers to charge. You already have to charge the VR headsets, so imagine having to charge both.

Love it! How many times I've had to stop playing for the night, just because my knuckles died. Quest controllers? Just throw another set of rechargeable AA'S in them and keep rollin!!

Low consumption shit like this should always use AA batteries, when they die you replace them and you got %100 efficacy back, instead of having internal rechargeable that will degrade and in 3 years you’ll have to replace the entire thing.

Controllers should always use aa batteries, the only reason companies started using lithium ion in controllers is because it’s popular not because it’s good in any way. You can always use rechargeable aa if you want

Prepared >:"]

I already have rechargeable AAs and a charger to use with my Quest 3. I dunno if I would prefer them to charge over USB since that needs using 2 chargers at once

Rechargeable internal batteries are a nice convenience feature until it's something you use so much that they eventually barely hold a charge. I feel pretty good about it, battery life decay is a major issue for both my controllers and trackers.

want to see rechargable packs like 8bitDo and 360pads have rechargeable pack AA cells arent obsolete. They've been around because universal standards are pro consumer protection.

Simply the best choice

I already have rechargeable AA’s at home, no difference to me, they are easier to replace too if they go bad

I have a Quest 3, and I just bought a set of four IKEA rechargeable AA batteries with a charger. So when the batteries die, I just swap them out and recharge them. One of the best accessories I’ve bought for VR.

Index controllers annoy me, because sometimes I sit in VR for more than 7 hours, and the controllers are already discharged.

I wish everything was rechargeable usb

Longevity secured - try use a PS3 controller today and see how long it lasts. Average joe hasn’t got the skills to replace a embedded battery

I think it's fine. Keep a couple rechargeables in a charger, a couple in your controllers. When they get low, swap them around. Infinite battery.

Rechargeable AAs were invented for a reason. People complaining need to take a few pills. I prefer being able to quickly swap the battery as soon as they die than wait an hour for them to recharge.

Swappable Batteries are a pro, you will never have to worry about replacing an internal battery and you will have minimal downtime since you can replace batteries really quickly if they die. Just get some Enloop Rechargeable AAs and call it a day.

it's annoying but whatever I use rechargeables

Perfectly fine. There will be rechargeables if we want them, AA makes them easy to service unlike the Index controllers

Love it. Stick some swappable rechargeable AA in it.
