Boston Dynamics just gave its robot dog a brain that reasons about the physical world. Google DeepMind's Gemini Robotics model is now running inside Spot, the four-legged robot already deployed at thousands of facilities worldwide. The upgrade centers on something called embodied reasoning. Basically, instead of following rigid instructions, Spot now interprets what it sees and makes decisions on its own. One standout example: Spot can now look at a pressure gauge, zoom in on the needle, calculate the intervals between tick marks, and deliver an accurate reading. All autonomously. The model also introduces: > Multi-view reasoning, combining feeds from multiple cameras to understand its environment even when objects are blocked from one angle > Built-in success detection, so Spot knows when it's failed and decides whether to retry or move on That last part is a key requirement for true autonomy. Most companies building AI-powered robots are still stuck in the demo phase. Boston Dynamics is one of the few with actual paying customers... which means thousands of Spots collecting real-world data that feeds back into making the AI smarter. That flywheel is hard to compete with.

What you're watching here is a torus cycling through its eigenfunctions...the surface's pure standing-wave modes. An eigenfunction is a mode that, when the surface Laplacian operator acts on it, reproduces itself scaled by a constant...that constant fixes the natural frequency. Each mode is indexed by two counts: how many oscillations wrap the small tube and how many wrap the big ring. Dark rings are nodes (no motion) and the bright bands between them are antinodes. Being There (1979) is a cinematic ink blot test, and we still don’t have a definitive answer for why Peter Sellers walks on water in the final shot. Is it a Christ allegory? Or is it the purest visual metaphor for Chance: a man so unburdened by ego, that he simply glides through life without ever breaking the surface. Or are we, like everyone in the film, projecting meaning onto a simple gardener and calling it a miracle? Maybe the joke's on us, life could be just a state of mind after all.

In 1979, the Soviet Union made walking giants.. This particular type, called ЭШ 6.5/45, was made in the former Soviet Union around 1979. Unlike Boston Dynamics' robots, it walks very slowly. This is because it weighs 280 metric tons, or about 617,294 pounds. And to answer the question "why do they walk" we have to go back briefly to the early 20th century. Back then, dragline excavators (crane-like machines popular for moving very large amounts of earth) had a problem: they got very heavy. So heavy that the railroad tracks used to move them on a construction site were sinking into the ground. Then, in 1908, Oscar Martinson of the Monighan Machinery Company said, "These should just walk, right? Let's make them walk," and he invented the first walking dragline. According to the post on social media, only half a dozen ЭШ 6.5/45 were produced, which means that seeing one walking around is a rare sight.

Does the gunplay feel like Ghosts? Probably because it feels like enemies are microscopic. Movement similar to MW19. The maps are solid, but not sure how they’ll play in 4v4 respawns. It’s got the worst spawn system I’ve ever seen, which is a good. It should be very easy to fix. I’m impressed.
