How does the skull drill know when to stop and not slam into the brain? Take a look. This is basic drilling. We can also use a regular drill and our own brain to know when we are approaching the dura. I can show that video next.

Clarifying- never use a regular drill on your own brain.

And then do tell how, once you've done your burr holes, how you connect the burr holes and remove the skull section.

Ok

👍🧠

There's a round version of this, how is that different?

This one’s round too it makes a round hole

Spherical would have been a better word.

No, it makes a round hole. I’ve looked at that round hole for like 30 years or so so it’s still round. Maybe your ones spherical.

The tool. A sphere and a cylinder both make round holes.

I had that done about 15 years ago when I had a cerebral hemorrhage

Not exactly rocket science, is it?

Excellent episode of Doc Martin in which Martin must treat a man who fell from a cliff, was experiencing “fits” and unconscious with intracranial pressure building. He uses Burt the plumber’s drill to relieve the buildup of pressure. Burt’s son Al-also a plumber-“how do you know when you’ve drilled far enough?” Martin responds “when his eyes open…”

You have to understand the science of asymmetrical transmissions and gradients, and see neither the drill and the skull as inert material but literally geometric pings that co constitute their states. This is why both the drill and the skull have to exchange energy to move
