Narrow waterways and big ships.

It really is WILD....

It is actually easy to understand. They were in the anchorage to the north of the Suez Canal.

@mercoglianos has been putting out good updates. They weren't in the open ocean, but sitting at a busy anchorage at the mouth of the Suez. Still should have been avoided, interested to see investigation results.

I know that the freighter was underway, she had just left the canal, while the HST was waiting to transit. US Military ships don't have active transponders (OPSEC) but you'd think they would turn them on for canal transits and entering ports...but what do I know...I'm just an old Gunner's Mate.

The biggest misconception is people think navy ships are cruising around with a bunch of lights on everywhere and are easy to spot from miles out in the darkness of night. All interior light is blocked any exterior light is red and minimal/ not exposed.

Were they not in port at the time of the accident?

Apparently, boats don't have windows.

He was just in their blind spot is all

Either an american vessel fucked up, or someone touched the boat. Either way, someone's ass will be feeling it.

If I told you I'd be labeled a misogynist, racist, transphobe.

Take a closer look at the traffic concentration at Port Said where you’re lining up to enter the Suez Canal. You’ll get a better understanding of how tight this is. It’s not the wide open ocean.

I’ve been wondering the same exact thing. Those are two massive ships with nothing to obstruct 360 views of nothing but ocean. This is not the entire story.

Aircrafts fall out of the sky (both military and civ), on a semi regular basis. Car wrecks happen. Train wrecks happen. Ship collisions happen (but you never hear about it because it involves merchant ships, which the news doesn’t cover). Anything that moves on a regular basis ends up having a wreck (or collision) at some point. Even AI and self driving cars have wrecks. That doesn’t mean it should be excused or accepted. But your question is one of ignorance.

Not enough flight sim time

This one makes absolutely 0 sense. Especially due to the fact nothing man-made can come closer to that beautiful monster of freedom delivery. I'm interested in what FE has to say on this one. #DontTouchTheBoats
