Interesting. I had read that clover is one of the plants that rattle might inhibit along with grasses. Could you let us know what the other main plants or plant families are?

@Andrew9Boswell Interesting. We had small patches of yellow rattle established in our meadow last year & were hopeful they would spread but we have less this year. Perhaps the endless wet weather has been unfavourable to it?

The ability to spend freely of the life-juices of it's host plants probably mean it can offer more nutritious pollen and nectar than its hosts do, really true if you compare it's value to bees vs. a wind-pollinated grass, for example. In the U.S., Pedicularis is a favorite...

Thanks for all of this information- I’ll digest we’ve loads of yellow rattle in a couple of fields - hard to have a balance of yellow rattle and something for the sheep to eat!
