I was filming with a guy that had been first class cabin crew for British Airways. He said that when she died they all broke into a very camp recital of “hey ho the witch is dead”

I know someone who worked for her, didn’t have a good word for her. When you know what a scouse accent really sounded like you know how false she was. People living in Liverpool didn’t talk like that.

We were at an event and she walked by behind the scenes, I said Hi Cilla, great show. She tore over to me like a scalded cat, caught me by the throat and slammed me against a wall. Three burly stagehands tried pulling her off me but there was no breaking her grip.

She came to Northern Ireland to do show at RAF Aldergrove for military 1971 or 1972 I was walking behind her as she went down a corridor and heard how she spoke to people, Never fell for the TV persona after that.
