Rip a slit in a business card and use it to hold the nail. It’s more accurate than this method.

My dad’s a shop teacher, so I’ve known this most of my life, but I’ve really only used it once, because it’s not useful. It’s incredibly inaccurate. The nail may not be set in the right spot or at the right angle. It’s better to just take your time.
