Per the federal reserve, it costs between .03 to .09 USD to print a single note. The notes are printed on ’paper’ made from 75% cotton and 25% linen.

Currency production seems to be a growing business.

When the paper is damaged during production, the entire sheet is replaced. For accounting purposes, the replacement notes will have a star at the end of the serial numbers.
