Stupidity. It's a Tamil city, originally named Venkaalur (Land of white clouds) there are literature records for that. Venkaalur, a Tamil majority City was taken by Karanataka after independence and made as capital to dilute the Tamil population by migrating Kannadigas there.

The most credible evidence comes from a 9th-century stone inscription in Begur, which mentions "Bengaluru Yuddha" (Battle of Bengaluru) in 890 AD, providing the earliest documented reference to the name Bengaluru.

Have they mentioned there how did we name this place to Bengaluru?
