Probably recorded from emulation with upscaling. With many modern emulators it's even possible to replace the textures with higher quality ones.

I mean this clearly looks like a PS1 game (aside from the added upscaling and filtering). People really tend to underestimate this console nowadays. Like someone else here said, "it's not a toaster".

Really cool game. We have not had a game like that since. It had some problems imo. The weapon and armoring was very... involved, lets say.

Because what you posted is upscaled and filtered by an emulator. The actual game looked more this this with unstable shimmering textures everywhere.

I can give yah a few reasons: 1. The PlayStation 2 was out already and Square knew how to get every bit of power out of the PSX. 2. It was before they mergered with enix. 3. Yasumi Matsuno Is a Total Badass, U Betta Ask Somebody! 😉

Because of a great art direction. The team went to south of France to emulate the architecture style of the place in the game and it shows while giving consistency ...despite the ps1 limitations.
