Spin has very little to do with it, The force depends on the mass of an object which is why things with more mass are heavier. Birds and insects are all effected by gravity, what happens to them when they stop flapping their wings?

Birds and insects fly unaffected? Have you ever seen a bird or insect just magically float on the air? Flying doesn’t mean they aren’t affected by gravity.
