Breaking an addiction usually starts with changing what you do in the first ten seconds of the urge. The craving rises fast, so the replacement action has to be ready before it does.

An addiction is a reaction. It’s like gaslighting someone and calling them crazy on their behavior. The cause is the gaslighting. Sending someone to rehab for that is blameshifting at its core. Awareness is everything.

The opposite of addiction is not sobriety. It’s community and connection.
