โ€œBreak negative self-talkโ€- implies itโ€™s a pattern or habit. That is the MOST important point here. What is repeated can be disrupted. Break the habit by replacing it. Your brain is a super computer and pattern recognition is itโ€™s greatest strength. Change your pattern.

1. Recognize Perseveration 2. Break it with a word/image/place that brings you joy/happiness/net positive thing 3. Repeat Acknowledge that all thoughts have a right to exist. You control the thought. Move. Go for a walk. And do the 5 min journal Tim strategy.

DBT is overrated. Psychodynamic psychotherapy for the (long term/lasting change) win.

Yes! Not everyone needs full DBT, but DBT skills can be so helpful for so many people struggling with negative thoughts/emotions. And, there are so many free/affordable options for learning now available. Thank you for talking about it on your platform yet again!
