That reminded me how atrocious Lightyear's pacing was. They were dragging this joke for too long, and when they do a payoff for it, it doesn't land because it happens so quick it doesn't have a chance to land properly.

Mitchells vs the Machines literally did the exact thing as Lightyear, but way better and a year earlier

The Spaceship works as both a funny payoff and a cheer moment. It also isn’t even at the end of the film and it doesn’t fully bring the film to its climax. Also just Benny yelling Spaceship never fails to crack me up. I like Lightyear but LEGO Movie did it so much better

Whats funnier is that a pen was more effective than the person own hand. How did the pen provide ANY extra leverage without BREAKING!?
