If you want a vision encoder for dexterous manipulation, what should be the most important part to model? 🤔 Current standard models like CLIP, SigLIP, and DINOv2 have an incredible grasp of semantics and spatial details. But they lack the action-centric structure needed for downstream visuomotor control. But collecting annotated robotic trajectories at scale is SUPER expensive and largely unrealistic. So, how do we bridge this gap? Excited to introduce SOLE-R1, a video-language reasoning model for zero-shot reward prediction for robot manipulation tasks! A robot performing a chemistry experiment might not sound that surprising. What’s interesting about this demo is how the robot was trained. Chinese embodied AI startup X Square Robot's TwinDEX uses a wearable three-finger end-effector to collect demonstrations from a human, rather than requiring the robot to be teleoperated during data collection. The resulting policy handles a 20+ step chemistry workflow: opening reagent bottles, scooping material, operating a pipette, transferring liquids, handling a glass rod, pouring, and coordinating both hands throughout the process. These are very different from simple pick-and-place tasks. There are continuous contacts, tool use, changing grasps, precise positioning, force control, and long-horizon state transitions. The reported experiments used robot-free demonstrations only, with zero on-robot teleoperation data for training. The bigger idea here is that if the data-collection hardware and deployment hardware are designed to be sufficiently consistent, robot-free demonstrations can still retain the information needed for real dexterous manipulation.

Can vision-language-action (VLA) models generalize to diverse OOD tasks and align with customized objectives? 🤔 🚀 We introduce GRAPE, a plug-and-play algorithm to generalize robot policies via preference alignment. GRAPE unfolds three benefits to boost the generalizability of VLAs: 👉1. GRAPE aligns VLAs on a trajectory level and endows the model with the ability for global decision-making, instead of merely cloning behavior; 👉2. GRAPE implicitly models reward from both successful and failed trials to boost generalizability to diverse tasks; 👉3. GRAPE adopts a scalable preference synthesis algorithm to rank trajectories with preferences that align with arbitrary objectives. Our experiments on a diverse array of real-world and simulated robotic tasks reveal: 1⃣GRAPE enhances the performance of state-of-the-art VLA models, increasing success rates on in-domain and unseen manipulation tasks by 51.79% and 60.36%; 2⃣GRAPE is versatile to be aligned with diverse objectives and reduce collision rates by 44.31% or rollout length by 11.15% when aligning towards safer or more efficient manipulation policy, respectively. Tencent announces AppAgent Multimodal Agents as Smartphone Users paper page: Recent advancements in large language models (LLMs) have led to the creation of intelligent agents capable of performing complex tasks. This paper introduces a novel LLM-based multimodal agent framework designed to operate smartphone applications. Our framework enables the agent to operate smartphone applications through a simplified action space, mimicking human-like interactions such as tapping and swiping. This novel approach bypasses the need for system back-end access, thereby broadening its applicability across diverse apps. Central to our agent's functionality is its innovative learning method. The agent learns to navigate and use new apps either through autonomous exploration or by observing human demonstrations. This process generates a knowledge base that the agent refers to for executing complex tasks across different applications. To demonstrate the practicality of our agent, we conducted extensive testing over 50 tasks in 10 different applications, including social media, email, maps, shopping, and sophisticated image editing tools. The results affirm our agent's proficiency in handling a diverse array of high-level tasks.

NovaFlow proposes an approach which (1) generates a video, (2) computes predicted flow — how points move through the scene — and (3) uses this flow as an objective to generate a motion. Voicebox: Text-Guided Multilingual Universal Speech Generation at Scale blog: Large-scale generative models such as GPT and DALL-E have revolutionized natural language processing and computer vision research. These models not only generate high fidelity text or image outputs, but are also generalists which can solve tasks not explicitly taught. In contrast, speech generative models are still primitive in terms of scale and task generalization. In this paper, we present Voicebox, the most versatile text-guided generative model for speech at scale. Voicebox is a non-autoregressive flow-matching model trained to infill speech, given audio context and text, trained on over 50K hours of speech that are neither filtered nor enhanced. Similar to GPT, Voicebox can perform many different tasks through in-context learning, but is more flexible as it can also condition on future context. Voicebox can be used for mono or cross-lingual zero-shot text-to-speech synthesis, noise removal, content editing, style conversion, and diverse sample generation. In particular, Voicebox outperforms the state-of-the-art zero-shot TTS model VALL-E on both intelligibility (5.9% vs 1.9% word error rates) and audio similarity (0.580 vs 0.681) while being up to 20 times faster.

Meta presents Sapiens Foundation for Human Vision Models discuss: We present Sapiens, a family of models for four fundamental human-centric vision tasks - 2D pose estimation, body-part segmentation, depth estimation, and surface normal prediction. Our models natively support 1K high-resolution inference and are extremely easy to adapt for individual tasks by simply fine-tuning models pretrained on over 300 million in-the-wild human images. We observe that, given the same computational budget, self-supervised pretraining on a curated dataset of human images significantly boosts the performance for a diverse set of human-centric tasks. The resulting models exhibit remarkable generalization to in-the-wild data, even when labeled data is scarce or entirely synthetic. Our simple model design also brings scalability - model performance across tasks improves as we scale the number of parameters from 0.3 to 2 billion. Sapiens consistently surpasses existing baselines across various human-centric benchmarks. We achieve significant improvements over the prior state-of-the-art on Humans-5K (pose) by 7.6 mAP, Humans-2K (part-seg) by 17.1 mIoU, Hi4D (depth) by 22.4% relative RMSE, and THuman2 (normal) by 53.5% relative angular error.

Our simple model design also brings scalability - model performance across tasks improves as we scale the number of parameters from 0.3 to 2 billion. Sapiens consistently surpasses existing baselines across various human-centric benchmarks. We achieve significant improvements over the prior state-of-the-art on Humans-5K (pose) by 7.6 mAP, Humans-2K (part-seg) by 17.1 mIoU, Hi4D (depth) by 22.4% relative RMSE, and THuman2 (normal) by 53.5% relative angular error.

Today, we publicly released RoboCasa365, a large-scale simulation benchmark for training and systematically evaluating generalist robot models. Built upon our original RoboCasa framework, it offers: • 2,500 realistic kitchen environments; • 365 everyday tasks (basic skills + long-horizon mobile manipulation); • Over 3,200 objects with many articulated fixtures/appliances. All are designed for fully controlled, reproducible benchmarking of robotic policies. Progress in robotic foundation models is real. But it’s still hard to answer basic questions like: How close are we to general-purpose autonomy? What factors drive generalization? What are the model/data scaling curves like? Real-world eval is slow and noisy, and existing sims (like LIBERO, which we built 3 years ago) often lack sufficient task and scene diversity. This benchmark comes with 2,200+ hours of demonstrations and 500K+ trajectories to support studies of multi-task training, pretraining, and continual learning at scale. Check it out at
