Civil engineering person here with directional drilling expertise. There is no system I have ever seen that does whatever the hell this weirdo graphic is showing. A directional drill rig has a huge hydraulic ram and physically has to use up to 550,000 pounds of force to drill underneath roads. This is dumb

Come to Ghana, the story is different. Roads are been dug almost every day to lay pipes.

It has several names we call it a hog or a mole this video needs a rock in the middle of road though to show it change direction without control

Thank you, I really understand now. When I was little, I thought they were actually going to dig or break up the ground to create a connection from end to end hahahaha

Working smart makes work easier. In some clime the entire road will be dug out just to install that pipe

Instead of tearing up the entire street, engineers use trenchless technology to install pipes beneath the surface. ⚙️🛠️

The best engineering is often the kind nobody notices. Solving huge problems with minimal disruption is real innovation.

This is straight drilling. If you hit a rock it could end up coming up in the middle of the road. You also have to make sure it's level going in.

Engineering like this is a great reminder that innovation isn't just about AI it's also about smarter infrastructure. Trenchless technology saves time, reduces disruption, and keeps cities moving. Impressive to see how far modern engineering has come. Great content! I'd really appreciate a follow back so we can connect and share more innovation-focused insights.

Where I live they just backhoe through the road. It's much quicker and you only need common equipment. Road gets resurfaced every two years anyway.

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a smart trenchless technology that installs underground pipes and cables without digging up the entire road. Pros- Less traffic disruption Faster installation Lower road repair costs Ideal for water, gas, power & optical fiber networks A perfect example of how engineering solves everyday problems while keeping cities moving.
