Palestinian journalist Shadi Abu Sido was detained in the notorious Sde Teiman prison for over 100 days. “Sde Teiman is a cemetery of the living, with torture no one can imagine, not even the human mind,” he told CPJ. In CPJ’s new special report, we collected 59 testimonies from Palestinian journalists released from Israeli custody since October 7, 2023. Of those interviewed, 58 reported being subjected to what they described as torture, abuse, or other forms of violence because of their work. Read more:

They label the illegally detained Palestinians as “Nukhba terrorists”. The Nukhba are the special forces of Hamas. Yet everyone detained at Sde Teiman detention facility are held without a charge, meaning that there is no evidence that they are fighters. If there is evidence that detainees committed a crime under Israeli law, they are transferred to prison facilities, not the military concentration camp.
