Economist Peter St Onge, Ph.D. explains how Canada needs to open up its markets to the U.S. in order to get a deal with President Trump. “It’s comical levels of tariffs that they put against us and that’s bizarre because saying that 1 in 5 Canadian jobs exports to America, for us it’s like 1 in 40. In other words Canada needs us much more than we need them, yet for decades American politicians have let Canada get away with these obscene tariffs and we’ve never done anything in return.”

Alberta is the last stand for Canada. I’m not Albertan so personally, I would rather they stay in Canada because I understand the detrimental effects that this will have on the country. That being said, it might need to be done. Not just for Alberta - but for Canada. We might have to disassemble this whole thing so we can build something new. Nothing is working here. Our constitution, our judicial system, our parliamentary system….it’s time for a change. Maybe Alberta leaving is exactly what Canada needs to wake up.
