Hugh Grant’s classic British deadpan stole the show during Richard Curtis’ Honorary Oscar speech. Absolute legend.

Funny! Thought Richard’s reply even funnier!

When British Sarcasm and their “round aboutism” is done correctly, it really is a thing of beauty. Gof you gotta hand it to these Brits man.

Hugh Grant was pure gold...

Tom Hanks just does not get British humour does he. 🙂

You can gauge how much affection British people have for one another by how much they take the p out of each other

Tom Hanks has never got British satire. Same look when Ricky Gervais presented awards and mentioned Epstein.

"...because of some flop, or some arrest or whatever" 🤣

The world desperately needs this humour.

They're both superb. Thoroughly British and vicious... in the most affectionate way. Amusing to me that some Americans still don't get it:

The closer the friends, the harsher the jabs, standard upbringing here ... this is how we display affection - its not for the faint-hearted.

He and Ricky Gervais need to team up and do more of these honorary speeches…

Curtis's answer is also very funny ! But this Hugh Grant's act is british humor at its top.

I miss these things, I miss those movies, without agendas or quotas, thanks for sharing the clip, hopefully someday in the near future we will have real entertainers and REAL and SPONTANEOUS entertainment!

Perfect display by both of how we express our affection. I’m amazed some people don’t get it tbh but I was raised on the biggest piss takers of them all, Monty Python.

That was awesome

I love this kind of humour and Hugh Grant carries it so well. I was talking to someone the other day about how they like his work better now even if he's not as big a star as he used to be.

A superb endorsement. A must-listen!

Better than nothing Oscar 🤣🤣🤣

Perfect delivery by both men. lol

Now that is how you take the piss out of someone 😂

Both are absolutely brilliant here. Well done!

We do do irony and sarcasm so well.

@daij1960 Wonderful ! Funny, sardonic posh banter. Would be appreciated anywhere.

Hugh’s a class act.

😂 excellent

L'hommage à Colin Firth ?

Very good and funny.

Quality bants

Hahaha

He's awalys ace

Lovely! @militaryhistori

There´s nothing better than English humour!
