The First Manufacturer to Mass-Produce 5,000 Humanoid Robots AgiBOT rolled off its 5,000th humanoid robot (a Lingxi X2) today, marking a milestone for both the company and the humanoid robot industry as a whole: a significant step towards large-scale deployment in the real world. Remember the humanoid robot used for hotel cleaning? Customers are already using it. Zerith Robotics, a startup from Hefei, has deployed multiple Zerith H1 robots in shopping malls, office buildings, and supermarkets in cities like Hefei Airport, Hefei Gas Building, and Shenzhen MixC, acting as cleaners and sales assistants. The Zerith H1 can autonomously perform cleaning tasks such as cleaning toilets, mopping floors, and wiping sinks. In supermarkets, it carries a shopping basket, autonomously picks up snacks, and automatically processes orders. From experimentation to trial use and real-world deployment, Zerith has built it into a commercial humanoid robot service solution, already used in over 20 landmark locations, and plans to expand to more cities like Hangzhou and Shanghai. Mocap is expensive, dangerous edge cases are rare, and you can’t ask humans to repeatedly fall or crash. Video2Robot tackles this by converting videos into physics-grounded humanoid simulations. Motion is generated to respect balance, inertia, ground contact, and joint limits, then directly retargeted to robot simulators. One prompt can generate a full humanoid motion sequence, including multi-agent interactions and failure cases like falls or collisions, scenarios that are hard or impossible to capture safely in the real world. The pipeline is model-agnostic and works with existing video generators, making it a practical way to scale data for robots. If robots are going to operate in the real world, they need to be trained on the failures too, not just the perfect demos. Edward Warchocki, Poland's viral humanoid robot, showed up at an apiary in full beekeeper gear - hat, veil, gloves - and the footage that followed turned into one of the funniest robot clips online this year. It stumbled through the grass, knocked into a hive, nearly toppled over more than once, and at one point appeared to make a run for it, clearly done with the bees, before its handler caught it and walked it back in. It can be assembled into various forms depending on the scenario, including bipedal, wheeled, and humanoid torso configurations, and its end effectors are also interchangeable. Each form of the robot is driven by a VLA model. It can perform complex movements and can also be integrated into existing workflows to perform tasks. It's worth mentioning that this solves the problem of which type of humanoid robot to use. Each user can assemble the robot in a configuration that suits their specific scenario, making it truly flexible and versatile – it doesn't necessarily have to be bipedal or wheeled... I look forward to seeing more real-world use cases.

Engineers and a team of surgeons at the University of California, San Diego successfully used teleoperated humanoid robots for live surgery. In one of the surgeries, the group, along with the humanoid robot, successfully removed a pig's gallbladder. In another case, 2 robots worked side by side to perform the same gallbladder removal. Michael Yip, a faculty member at UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering, says, “This can help address the healthcare crisis not only in the United States, but also worldwide.” “This study shows that humanoid robots have a viable future in the field of surgery.
