I absolutely welcome the govt's new law making it illegal to create non-consensual intimate images - and I also recognise that legislation is only as good as its enforcement. We must ensure Ofcom's investigation is conducted swiftly; justice for victims cannot wait.

The UK government will enforce the creation of non-consensual intimate images as a criminal offence starting this week. Technology Secretary Liz Kendall says deepfake intimate images being created through the Grok AI tool on X are 'vile' and the law will punish people who create them, as well as platforms for hosting it. Ofcom has also announced it has begun investigating over X in relation to potential breaches of the Online Safety Act.

We will also strengthen parental rights within our education system regarding this issue and ensure that women and girls can compete in female-only sports divisions. As this legislation is debated, we invite all Albertans to join the conversation.
