I added a new MCP server that lets Claude think step by step before answering. Claude is able to decide upfront how many thinking steps are needed, retrace its thoughts, and even branch off if it sees the right opportunity. Here it is solving this famous "impossible" question.

From Claude: This is a key realization: with 7 gears in a circle, we have an odd number of gears. This means it's actually impossible to have all gears mesh with their neighbors - they would create a contradiction where the same gear would need to rotate in two different directions. In a real mechanical system, this arrangement wouldn't work. The problem as stated has no valid solution because it creates a mechanical impossibility.

What does the MCP even doing? I mean how is it different from just telling the model to think in a specific CoT style?

It's running multiple tools, so it's quite different.
