On the topic of walking, what’s your favorite walk in golf? Not a whole course necessarily, but one single walk on a golf course. I think of the walk over the Swilcan Bridge at The Old Course. The walk down 18 at Pebble. Sheep Ranch 17, 18 at Pine Valley. But the clear winner is the walk from 15 to 16 at Cypress Point.

The 17th at Ganton Golf Club is one of the longest par 3's in the country, measuring a mighty 246 yards from the back tees. A fantastic tee shot is required to get on the green in regulation on this hole and par is a great score.

There are a million videos of holes 15 and 16 at Cypress Point. This has to be the best I’ve ever seen. The lighting is insane. The ocean crashing. 16 perfectly clear in the background. You can really see the design and contour of 15 green from this tee box. Video never captures that. Quite possibly the very best tee box on earth. Where else would you rather be? It’s the eve of the grand reopening of Lakewood CC. Our 1921 Tillinghast original is ready to be unveiled to the membership tomorrow. Here is the final flyover of our new #4 (old #11). This par longer 4 is in the running for biggest hole transformation. When our architect Keith Foster first walked the golf course, I asked him what his fav hole was and he said this hole because of its potential. Two massive original Sahara bunkers that were never filled in with sand were brought to life. The first tree on the right off the tee was removed yesterday and the view is even better. Enjoy
